Swans saved

Quick actions by Charter Quay staff and the Shepperton based Swan Sanctuary helped to limit environmental damage when oil and diesel spilled into the Hogsmill River.

Swans affected by the spill were quickly picked up by the Swan Sanctuary team who arrived within minutes following an emergency call by Marek Szczytko, the Charter Quay manager. The swans are expected to be returned next week once they have been properly cleaned and given a clean bill of health. The oil and diesel spillage occurred when a bus caught fire in the High Street.
